This January, my husband and I were working on a home project. The stucco on the lower part of our house was deteriorating and we decided to replace it with brick. The two of us would work in the morning till about noon. Neighbors would stop by and chat as they walked by and we met many of them for the first time. But the greatest moment came a few days later when we received a note from an elderly neighbor across the street who we hadn't talked to for quite awhile. She wrote that she had watched us working and enjoyed seeing us do this project together. She also said that the result was beautiful and that she would probably enjoy it more than us, because she could see it when she looked out her window. We were so delighted to receive her letter and for her kind words that we hastened over to thank her and to bring her some fresh fruit from our garden.
